Integral Halachah: A New Approach to an Old Process

Since the publication of the Shulchan Aruch in the 16th century, halachists have relied more on proof texts and less on experience. As a result, rabbis speak mostly to the already committed while. for most, halachah is irrelevant and/or oppressive.

Come and learn a new/old approach to the halachic process, a path which connects the smallest details of our lives to the revelation of our collective purpose in the Sinai desert and the vision of a redeemed world toward which we aim. We’ll look at the halachic process prior to modernity and into our current, paradigm-shifting reality We will then apply what Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi called the Psycho-Halachic process (now called Integral Halachah) to one current issue as we strive to remain both “backwards compatible” and present to this moment.

Hanna Tiferet, served as the Hillel Director in Vancouver, as Jewish Chaplain at Dartmouth College, and Rabbinic Director of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
