The relationship between Judaism, and meditation and yoga is deep and indelible. At its core, the Torah espouses a notion of prayer that is rooted in ‘mindful-movements.’ The Talmud grounds the institution of prayer in the intimate and vivid stories of the patriarchs engaged in meditative-yoga or prayer. This session, will lay the groundwork for an understanding of Judaism and meditation and yoga, as well as an introduction to the hot topic of mindfulness meditation. The workshop will incorporate some basic exercises in mindfulness meditation, namely: hatha yoga, awareness of breath meditation and ‘mindful-Jewish-prayer’.
